Alkaline Peptone Water
Composition per liter:
NaCl............................................................................................10.0g
Peptone........................................................................................10.0g
pH 8.5 ± 0.2 at 25°C
Preparation of Medium: Add components to distilled/deionized
water and bring volume to 1.0L. Mix thoroughly. Adjust pH to 8.5.
Distribute into tubes or flasks. Autoclave for 10 min at 15 psi pressure–
121°C.
Use: For the cultivation and transport of Vibrio cholerae and other
Vibrio species from foods.
