Composition per 200.0mL:

K 2 HPO 4 .......................................................................................3.13g
L- Tryptophan.................................................................................1.0g
NaCl..............................................................................................1.0g
KH 2 PO 4 .......................................................................................0.27g
pH 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C
Preparation of Medium: Add components to distilled/deionized
water and bring volume to 200.0mL. Mix thoroughly. Distribute into
tubes or flasks. Autoclave for 15 min at 15 psi pressure–121°C.

Use: For the differentiation of microorganisms by means of indole

production from the tryptophan test.
