Artificial seawater....................................... 100.0mL

Artificial Seawater:

Composition per 100.0mL:

NaCl....................................................................2.4g

MgCl2·6H2O .......................................................1.1g

Na2SO4................................................................0.4g

CaCl2·6H2O ........................................................0.2g

KCl....................................................................0.07g

NaHCO3............................................................0.02g

KBr ...................................................................0.01g

SrCl2·6H2O ......................................................4.0mg

H3BO3 ..............................................................3.0mg

Na2SiO3·9H2O .................................................0.5mg

NaF ..................................................................0.3mg

Preparation of Artificial Seawater: Add com

ponents to distilled/deionized water and bring vol

ume to 100.0mL. Mix thoroughly.

Preparation of Medium: Add components to

distilled/deionized water and bring volume to 1.0L.

Mix thoroughly. Distribute into tubes or flasks. Auto

clave for 15 min at 15 psi pressure–121°C.

Use: For the cultivation of halophilic bacteria.
