Composition per 200.0mL:

K2HPO4.............................................................3.13g

L-Tryptophan.......................................................1.0g

NaCl....................................................................1.0g

KH2PO4.............................................................0.27g

pH 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C

Preparation of Medium: Add components to

distilled/deionized water and bring volume to

200.0mL. Mix thoroughly. Distribute into tubes or

flasks. Autoclave for 15 min at 15 psi pressure–

121°C.

Use: For the differentiation of microorganisms by

means of indole production from the tryptophan test.
